Terms of Service
Last updated 4 August 2026
These terms govern your use of the biroot.ai website, the BiRoot account service, and the BiRoot AI Studiodesktop application (together, the “Service”), operated by BiRoot (“we”, “us”). By using the Service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
The Service
BiRoot AI Studio is a desktop workspace for coordinating AI coding agents. It runs on your computer, connects to third-party AI tools under accounts that you own, and keeps your work — code, repositories, credentials, and conversation history — on your machine by default. Optional cloud features (accounts, sync, remote access) are provided through our servers when you enable them.
The Service is currently in private beta and is provided free of charge. Features may change, break, or be removed as the product develops.
Your account
You may need a BiRoot account for cloud-connected features. You agree to provide accurate information, keep your credentials secure, and tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised use of your account. You must be at least 13 years old (or the higher minimum age in your jurisdiction) to use the Service.
Your content and code
Your code, repositories, prompts, and the outputs you produce with the Service remain yours. We claim no ownership over them. For cloud features you enable, you grant us only the limited licence needed to store, transmit, and process that data in order to provide the feature to you. We do not use your code or content to train models.
Third-party AI services
The Service coordinates third-party AI tools (such as Claude Code, Codex, or OpenCode) that you connect under your own accounts. Your use of those tools is governed by their providers’ terms, and you are responsible for complying with them. We are not responsible for the availability, pricing, or behaviour of third-party services.
Output produced by AI systems can be wrong, insecure, or unsuitable for your purpose, even when it has passed automated checks. You are responsible for reviewing anything the Service or a connected agent produces before you rely on it, ship it, or run it.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service to break the law or infringe others’ rights;
- probe, disrupt, or gain unauthorised access to the Service or to systems you do not own;
- resell or provide the Service to third parties as your own offering without our written agreement;
- misrepresent your identity to us or abuse beta access (for example by scraping our services or circumventing usage boundaries).
Beta software
Beta software contains defects. The Service operates on your own machine against your own repositories, and you are responsible for maintaining backups of your code and data. Do not point beta software at systems you cannot afford to break.
Our intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, and branding, is owned by BiRoot and protected by law. These terms do not grant you any right to our trademarks or branding. If you send us feedback or suggestions, you grant us a perpetual, royalty-free licence to use them without obligation to you.
Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, BiRoot will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the claim (currently zero) or fifty US dollars. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.
Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access to the Service (including beta access) if you breach these terms or if we discontinue the beta programme. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including ownership, disclaimers, and limitation of liability — survive.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product develops. When changes are material, we will update the date at the top of this page and notify account holders by email before the changes take effect. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
Trademarks
BiRoot builds on top of the Claude Code, Codex, and OpenCode CLIs. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Anthropic, OpenAI, or their respective owners.
